Your privacy
Privacy Policy
This explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we use it, and the choices you have. We have tried to keep it plain and short.
Who we are
This website is run by Rustic Huts, which hand-builds shepherd huts at Capel Iago Sawmill, Ty Mawr, Llanybydder, Carmarthenshire, Wales, SA40 9RD. We are the “data controller” for the personal information described here.
Contact us about your data at rustichuts@gmail.com or on 07583 723677.
What we collect
We only collect personal information that you choose to give us:
- The enquiry form: your name, email address, phone number (optional) and the message you write about the hut you would like.
- Email, phone, text and WhatsApp: whatever you send us when you contact us this way, including your contact details.
We do not use accounts, newsletters, payment forms or live chat on this website.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
We use your information for the purposes below. For each one we rely on a different lawful basis under UK data protection law.
- Replying to your enquiry and preparing a quote. You have asked us to take steps before you enter into a contract with us (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). If your enquiry is not about buying from us, we rely on our legitimate interests in answering people who contact us (Article 6(1)(f)).
- Making and delivering an order, and dealing with payments. This is necessary to carry out our contract with you (Article 6(1)(b)).
- Keeping accounting and tax records. We have a legal obligation to keep certain records (Article 6(1)(c)).
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We use these services to run the website and handle enquiries:
- Web3Forms (web3forms.com), a form service that receives the enquiry form and passes it on to us by email. Web3Forms says its servers run on Amazon Web Services and that it may keep submissions or server logs for a limited time.
- Google (Gmail), our email provider, which receives and stores the enquiries sent to us by email.
- Fasthosts, our website host, which delivers this website and may keep standard server logs, such as visitors’ IP addresses. Our web designer manages the hosting account on our behalf.
- WhatsApp (Meta), if you choose to message us there. Your message is then handled under their terms and privacy policy.
Enquiries are seen by the people at Rustic Huts who deal with them. We may also share information if the law requires it.
This website links to other sites, such as Facebook, Airbnb and Google Maps. They are separate from us and have their own privacy policies. Nothing from them is loaded on our pages unless you click through.
Cookies and similar technologies
This website does not use cookies or similar tools for analytics, advertising or tracking, and it does not embed third-party content that sets them. Our fonts are hosted on this website, so your browser does not contact Google or other font services when you visit. Because of this, we do not show a cookie banner. If we add any non-essential cookies in future, we will ask for your permission first and update this page.
Transfers outside the UK
Some of the services we use may process information outside the UK, for example Web3Forms (which says it runs on Amazon Web Services) and Google (Gmail).
How long we keep it
We keep your enquiry for as long as we need it to deal with it and any follow-up. If you become a customer, we keep your order and payment records for as long as we need them to run the business and meet our legal and accounting obligations.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong;
- ask us to delete your information, in some cases;
- ask us to restrict or stop using your information, in some cases;
- object to us using your information where we rely on legitimate interests;
- ask for your information in a portable format, where this applies.
To use any of these rights, email rustichuts@gmail.com. We will reply within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk, telephone 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page from time to time, and we will post any changes here.
